WHO IS THE ‘WIDE ANGLE VIGILANTE ?

When he was thirteen, Ishaan took a few pictures with his father’s phone. Almost a year later, he was taken aback by the amount of numbers, icons, and information on the screen when he handled a DSLR for the first time at an electronics store. It took him nearly a year to get his first DSLR, a 1000D.

At age 23, he became the first Indian photographer to capture the grueling Dakar Rally. He went on to shoot other World Rally Raid Championship events and five consecutive editions as well. Continuing in the desert, he went on to make an impact in a number of other sports, including Formula 2,3&4, Endurance Racing, Motocross, Supercross, and MotoGP. He has worked with every automobile publication in the country, creating various editorial features and finally made a foray into the world of advertising, while working directly with several global companies and manufacturers.

Action sports aren’t only about taking pictures of these incredibly dedicated athletes. For Ishaan, it serves as a reminder to lead a healthier lifestyle, become more efficient in the end and portray the inner feelings of every athlete in the most authentic way possible.

“The physical and emotional difficulties of a 20-minute motocross race are only fully understood by those who ride/have ridden dirt bikes on gnarly motocross tracks. To appreciate the level of perfection sportsmen bring to their sport, you have to partake in it yourself. Higher comprehension translates into better visuals. Generally speaking, that is.”, he says.

As a member of Red Bull Photography, he is highly motivated to do whatever it takes to bring his ideas to life by the genres of dirt, action, sport and adventure! His core values, “no shortcuts, hard-work and always remember to have fun, no matter what” are extremely evident.
